Parental Partnership
"Two Sculptors"
I dreamed I saw a studio
And watched two sculptors there.
The clay they used was a child’s mind
And they fashioned it with care.
One was a teacher-the tools he used
Were books, music, and art.
The other, a parent, worked with a guiding hand,
And a gentle, loving heart.
Day after day, the teacher toiled with a touch,
That was careful and sure,
While the parent labored by his side
And polished and smoothed it o’er.
And when at last, their task was done,
They were proud of what they had wrought.
For the things they had molded into the child.
Could neither be sold nor bought.
And each agreed they would have failed
If either had worked alone.
For behind the parents stood the school
And behind the teacher, the home.

The poem above really capitalizes on the importance of a strong family-school relationship. Communication is such an essential tool to success. I look forward to maintaining an open line of communication with you and your child so we can do our best to cater to their individual needs.
More Background About Me
With an innate passion for helping others, the seeds of my educational career were planted at a young age. Coupled with knowledge and first hand experiences as: Kindergarten Teacher, K-5 Title I Teacher, Berea City Schools Summer Camp Site Director, Literacy & Math Tutor, Service Inc. Adviser, Reading Club Advisor, Grant Team Member, Talent Show Coordinator, Spelling Bee Assistant, & Young Authors Coordinator.
My patient, firm demeanor has helped my students make gains socially, emotionally, and academically through a safe, nurturing, and community rich environment. I truly love my job, especially engaging wonder, questions, creativity, maximizing potential, and establishing confident well-rounded students.
A principle I wholeheartedly support is lifelong learning. In order to make "our" students lifelong learners I will tap into their interests, offer choices, and maintain a friendly, fair, approachable demeanor. Moreover, I feel technology needs to be a component of learning and be reflected in the classroom. Technology has the potential to heighten curiosity, motivate, and inspire critical thought.
As a professional educator, I intertwine my creative side with course content to meet the needs of diverse learners. Maintaining awareness of these unique differences by incorporating visual, tactile, and auditory learning techniques as well as variants to individual and collaborative exploration gives life to learning. In addition, I promote student choice which will encourage a positive classroom climate that showcases respect and inquiry.
My academic, field, and teaching experiences have provided opportunities to carry out my pedagogical approach as I intertwine theory with real-life application.
With a Smile,
Mrs. Tuck
